This kind of use puts the turbocharger under considerable strain, as it must deliver consistent air pressure at high revs while withstanding elevated temperatures. On this model, a worn turbo quickly makes itself known through a noticeable loss of power, exhaust smoke, or an unusual whistling noise — particularly during the sustained acceleration typical of spirited or motorway driving.

Compatibility with the Mercedes CL 500 and its engine

This new turbo is compatible with reference 827053-5001S, intended for the 500 engine fitted to the Mercedes CL (C216), identifiable by engine codes M278.922 and M278.932. Before placing an order, it is essential to check the reference marked on your old turbo or on the engine plate to ensure exact compatibility with your vehicle.

Warranty and delivery for this Mercedes CL turbo

This new turbo is sold as a straight sale: it is a brand-new part, delivered directly, with no old unit to return. The product carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over up to 10 instalments to make your purchase more manageable.

Tips for extending the life of your turbo

On the M278 engine of the CL 500, turbo longevity depends heavily on the quality and frequency of engine oil changes, as insufficient lubrication or degraded oil accelerates bearing wear. It is also advisable to check the condition of the air filter and intercooler, and to ensure there are no leaks in the boost hoses. Before fitting, inspect the oil circuit (feed and return lines) to prevent the new turbo from running dry prematurely. On start-up, priming with oil is recommended to lubricate the bearings before the first build-up of pressure, reducing the risk of early failure on this type of turbocharged engine.

This same turbo also fits

New Mercedes CLS Turbo – Ref. 827053-5001S

New Mercedes Classe E Turbo – Ref. 827053-5001S

New Mercedes Classe S Turbo – Ref. 827053-5001S

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0656/9161/5317/files/turbo-echange-standard_03f9a92e-7e0f-43ce-8ea6-d063c286d792.png?v=1790812605
