AL0069

Why might the turbo on your Mercedes GLA 220/250 fail prematurely?

On Mercedes GLA models fitted with the 2.0 petrol engine M270.920, the turbocharger is under constant demand to deliver torque from low revs. This continuous forced induction makes the unit particularly sensitive to oil quality and service intervals: degraded oil or a low oil level will prematurely wear the turbine shaft bearings. A clogged air filter or a blocked intercooler also disrupts airflow and accelerates mechanical fatigue. Driving that alternates between hard use and immediately switching the engine off — without a cooling-down period — is another common cause of failure on this type of compact turbocharged petrol engine.

New turbo compatible with reference AL0069 for Mercedes GLA

This new turbo is compatible with reference AL0069, intended for Mercedes GLA models fitted with the 2.0-litre petrol engine M270.920 (M270921), found in particular on the GLA 220 4MATIC and GLA 250 / GLA 250 4MATIC variants. Before placing an order, it is recommended that you check the reference printed on your old turbo or on the engine plate of your vehicle to confirm exact compatibility with your specific unit.

Warranty and delivery of this new Mercedes GLA turbo

This new turbo is sold as a straightforward purchase: it is delivered directly to you, with no old unit to return. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment for your order can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.

Fitting advice for the M270.920 engine in your GLA

Before installing the new turbo, check the oil circuit (feed and return hoses), ensure there are no leaks at the sump, and verify that the air intake is clean to avoid any premature contamination. Priming the turbo with oil before the first start-up is essential to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings. After fitting, it is advisable to inspect the intake hoses and intercooler to preserve the longevity of the new part on this turbocharged petrol engine.

This same turbo also fits

New Mercedes CLA Turbo – Ref.
