VB13

Restore full power to your Toyota RAV4 2.2 D-4D

On a Toyota RAV4 fitted with the 2.2 D-4D engine, a turbo in good condition delivers crisp low-rev response, smooth linear acceleration and slicker gear changes – particularly when towing or driving off-road. Conversely, a worn turbo makes itself known through a gradual loss of power, exhaust smoke, an unusual whistling noise or an illuminated engine warning light. Fitting a new turbo restores the original driving feel and protects the engine in the long run.

VB13 turbo compatibility with the RAV4 2.2 D-4D

This new turbo is compatible with reference VB13, intended for Toyota RAV4 models fitted with the 2.2 D-4D engine producing 177 hp, corresponding to engine codes 2AD-FHV and 2AD-FTV. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference printed on the old turbo or on the vehicle's identification plate, as different engine variants may be fitted with different turbos depending on the version.

Equivalent references

17201-0R020

17201-0R021

17201-0R022

VB13

VGA30017

Exchange and warranty for this RAV4 turbo

This turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required. The new turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.

Advice before fitting and running in the turbo

On the 2.2 D-4D engine, premature turbo failure is most commonly caused by lubrication issues linked to unsuitable oil quality or missed oil changes, a clogged air filter allowing contaminants through, or a damaged intercooler causing irregular boost pressure. Driving with sudden high-rev bursts without allowing the engine to idle before switching off can also accelerate bearing wear.

Check the condition of the oil circuit and replace the filter before fitting

Inspect the hoses and air intake to rule out any leaks or blockages

Prime the turbo with oil before the first start-up

Carry out a full oil change using oil suitable for the 2AD-FHV engine

These straightforward checks will help extend the life of the new turbo and prevent a repeat failure in the short term.

This same turbo also fits

New Toyota Auris Turbo – Ref.
