turbo-volkswagen-golf-neuf-454159-5002s
New Volkswagen Golf Turbo – Ref. 454159-5002S

Why does the turbo on your Golf 1.9 TDI 90 fail?

On the Volkswagen Golf fitted with the 1.9 TDI 90 engine, the turbos on AGR and ALH blocks are particularly sensitive to oil quality. Dirty oil or oil changed too infrequently clogs the turbo's oil galleries and accelerates wear on the shaft bearings. A blocked air filter or a cracked intake hose can also cause a pressure drop that prematurely strains the compressor. Predominantly urban driving — with frequent stops and no engine cool-down period before switching off — also weakens this type of turbo over time.

Compatibility with your Golf

This new turbo is compatible with reference 454159-5002S, intended for Volkswagen Golf models fitted with the 1.9 TDI 90 engine, identified by engine codes AGR and ALH, in Diesel specification. Before placing an order, it is essential to check the reference marked on your old turbo or on the engine plate, to confirm an exact match with your vehicle.

Exchange basis and warranty on this new turbo

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of your old turbo is required. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted to your Golf, so that the vehicle is not left off the road during the process. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional.

Fitting advice for your Golf 1.9 TDI 90

Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit (feed and return hoses), the condition of the intercooler and intake hoses, and the cleanliness of the air intake. Pre-lubricating the turbo with oil before the first start-up is essential to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings. After fitting, monitor the first few kilometres: any unusual noise, excessive smoke or loss of power may indicate an installation fault that needs to be addressed promptly.

Payment for your order can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments, to make purchasing this new turbo for your Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI 90 more manageable.

This same turbo also fits

New Audi A3 Turbo – Ref. 454159-5002S

New SEAT Leon Turbo – Ref. 454159-5002S

New SEAT Toledo Turbo – Ref. 454159-5002S

New Skoda Octavia Turbo – Ref. 454159-5002S

New Volkswagen Bora Turbo – Ref. 454159-5002S

New Volkswagen New Beetle Turbo – Ref. 454159-5002S

New Volkswagen Polo Turbo – Ref. 454159-5002S

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0656/9161/5317/files/turbo-echange-standard_9bb05241-67a1-487a-bd86-6749af8848ee.png?v=1790811833
