On this AAZ engine, a gradual loss of power, black or bluish exhaust smoke, an unusual whistling noise under acceleration, or abnormal oil consumption are all tell-tale signs of a worn turbo. Before dismantling anything, check for excessive play on the turbine shaft, inspect the condition of the intake hose, and look for any leaks in the oil lubrication circuit. This methodical check helps avoid an unnecessary replacement if the fault lies elsewhere, such as a split hose or a faulty sensor.

Overview of the new turbo for the Golf III 1.9 TD

This new turbo is compatible with reference 53039880003 and has been designed to fit the Volkswagen Golf III with the 1.9 TD engine, engine code AAZ, with an engine capacity of 1896 cm³.
