It is a 5-speed manual unit identified by reference 20ET57, which sees heavy daily use in this van. Over time, synchros and gears wear down and eventually cause difficult gear changes. Reference 20ET57 is the most reliable way to confirm compatibility before any work is carried out on your Citroën Berlingo.

Signs that your gearbox needs replacing

Stiff or crunching gear changes, particularly into second or third

A gear jumping out or refusing to engage properly

Abnormal grinding or whining noises under acceleration

Unusual vibrations felt through the gear lever

Oil leaking from the gearbox casing

Rebuild of your own unit, ready to fit

With this service, it is your own gearbox – referenced 20ET57 – that is sent in to be reconditioned and then returned to you.
