The DV6DTED reference corresponds to the original engine fitted to this model, making replacement straightforward. After many thousands of kilometres, this diesel unit can develop internal wear that warrants a full reconditioning rather than simply replacing individual parts. The process follows a precise method: the block is completely stripped down, every component is cleaned and thoroughly inspected, worn internal parts are replaced according to their condition, and the engine is then reassembled to manufacturer tolerances and bench-tested before dispatch. This engine is sold as a bare unit; the exact list of components supplied with reference DV6DTED is detailed on the quote.

Signs that your C5 1.6 HDi engine needs replacing

Several warning signs should alert the driver of a Citroën C5 fitted with the 1.6 HDi before a complete breakdown occurs.

Black or bluish smoke on acceleration

Noticeable loss of power, even on flat roads

Metallic noise or knocking at idle

Engine warning light on accompanied by abnormal oil consumption

Increasingly difficult cold starts

Unusual vibrations felt in the cabin at idle

Exchange basis and deposit

This engine, referenced DV6DTED, is supplied on an exchange basis: the reconditioned unit is dispatched first, before the old block is collected, so the garage is never left without an engine and the vehicle is not off the road for any longer than necessary.
