It is a 6-speed manual gearbox, fully reconditioned before being returned to service.

Signs that your 6-speed manual gearbox needs replacing

Several symptoms should alert the driver of a New Beetle fitted with the 1.4 TSI: stiff or crunching gear changes, a gear lever that judders when selecting second or third, jolting when engaging the clutch, a grinding noise in neutral, or a gear that jumps out spontaneously whilst driving. A visible gearbox oil leak beneath the vehicle is also a warning sign that should not be ignored.

Reconditioning your JPG gearbox

Reconditioning a gearbox involves a complete strip-down, thorough cleaning and inspection of every component, followed by replacement of all internal wear parts: gears, synchros, bearings and seals are examined and replaced according to their condition. The gearbox is then reassembled to manufacturer tolerances and bench-tested before dispatch, ensuring performance that meets the original factory specification.

Exchange basis: keeping your workshop running

This gearbox is sold on an exchange basis: the reconditioned JPG unit is dispatched first, without waiting for the return of the old unit. Your original gearbox, with its casing intact, is only collected after the reconditioned unit has been delivered and fitted, so the garage is never left without a gearbox and the vehicle is not off the road unnecessarily. Return of the old unit is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

Compatibility

This reconditioned gearbox, reference JPG, is compatible with Volkswagen New Beetle vehicles fitted with the 1.4 TSI engine, corresponding to engine codes CAVD, CTHD and CTKA.

Warranty and payment

This reconditioned gearbox is covered by a 24-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional.
