JLU

This Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TDI gearbox, reference JLU, is reconditioned to a rigorous standard before being offered on an exchange basis. This 6-speed manual gearbox fits the Passat 2.0 TDI, whose diesel engine has a capacity of 1968 cm³, sometimes identified by engine code BMP. The JLU reference is widely used on this engine and is one of the most sought-after 6-speed manual gearboxes for this model.

Reconditioning involves a complete strip-down of the JLU gearbox, followed by thorough cleaning and a detailed inspection of every component. Wear parts — including gears, synchros, bearings and seals — are systematically replaced. The gearbox is then reassembled to manufacturer tolerances and bench-tested to confirm correct operation before dispatch.

Signs That Your Gearbox Needs Replacing

Difficult or crunching gear changes, particularly on the most frequently used ratios

Abnormal noises in neutral or under load

Gears jumping out on their own whilst driving

Unusual vibrations felt through the gear lever

Oil leak from the gearbox casing

Exchange Basis: Your Passat Is Never Off the Road

As part of this exchange range, the JLU gearbox — rebuilt to 0 km — is dispatched first, allowing the garage to carry out the fitting without delay.
