This 5-speed manual gearbox undergoes a full reconditioning process before being returned to service under reference HCY. Reconditioning involves complete disassembly, thorough cleaning and inspection of every component, followed by replacement of all internal wear parts: gears, synchros, bearings and seals. The unit is then reassembled to manufacturer tolerances and bench-tested prior to dispatch.

On a Transporter fitted with this engine, several signs point to a worn gearbox: increasingly stiff gear changes, juddering or crunching when changing down, a gear jumping out whilst driving, difficulty finding neutral, or a dull noise at the clutch.
