How does the Renault Vel Satis transmission work?
Right from the start, the model is offered with two powerful engines: a Nissan-sourced 3.51 V6 petrol unit developing 235 hp, and a 3.01 V6 diesel with common-rail direct injection and 180 hp, both mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox with impulse control. Some versions, such as the 3.0 V6 DCI EXPRESSION BVA6, are equipped with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The manual gearbox is still available with six gears: 150 hp for the 2.0 DCI 150 FAP INITIALE and 170 hp for the 2.0 T Carminat.
