Limited in size, these engines gradually gained in efficiency, with the power of the Ford Mustang IV 4.6-liter V8 reaching 390 hp in the early 2000s.

The Ford Mustang V continues this trend with a maximum output of 550 horsepower. This power is further reduced to 450 hp on the Ford Mustang VI.

Finally, the Ford Mustang VII, on the road since 2023 features 2 different engines, the 4-cylinder 2.3 EcoBoost and V8 Coyote 5.0engines, rated at 317 and 480 hp respectively.

These remain virtually unchanged on the Ford Mustang II. The third generationon the other hand, sees a few changes with the introduction of the 5-speed T5 manual gearbox and the 4-speed AOD automatic gearbox.
