This reconditioned gearbox is designed for Skoda Octavia models fitted with a 1.9 TDI engine of 1896 cm³, compatible with engine codes AGR, ALH, ASV, ATD, AXR, BKC, BXE and BLS. It carries reference HQN and replaces a faulty DSG 6 unit with a fully reconditioned part. It is aimed at Octavia owners whose original DSG 6 gearbox is showing signs of mechanical weakness.

Signs that this DSG 6 gearbox needs replacing

On a dual-clutch automatic gearbox such as this one, several warning signs indicate advanced wear: juddering or jerking during gear changes, dual-clutch slip under acceleration, slipping when pulling away on a hill, the gearbox warning light illuminated on the dashboard, an error message prompting you to stop the vehicle, delayed or harsh gear changes, and metallic noise in park or neutral. These symptoms point to internal wear that warrants prompt inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the gearbox.

Reconditioning and exchange

The HQN gearbox offered here is fully reconditioned: it is completely stripped down, cleaned and inspected, with its gears, synchros, bearings and seals replaced as required, then reassembled to manufacturer tolerances and bench-tested before dispatch. This gearbox is sold with the dual-clutch assembly, which is reconditioned alongside the mechanical unit. However, this gearbox is sold without the mechatronic unit: this electronic component is neither reconditioned nor tested, it is not supplied or included in the sale, and the vehicle's original unit must be reused by the customer.

This part is sold on an exchange basis: the reconditioned gearbox is dispatched to the garage first, without waiting for the old gearbox to be returned, so that the vehicle is not left off the road unnecessarily. The old gearbox, with its casing intact, is only collected after the reconditioned unit has been delivered and fitted. Return of the old unit is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

Warranty and payment
