Ford: over 80 active engine codes, from the 1.0 EcoBoost to the 3.2 TDCi

With Ford, the engine code stamped on the block is the essential starting point. The same engine capacity can span several parts families depending on the year and model: the 2.0 TDCi alone covers codes as different as G6DA, TXWA, FIFA and UFBA, which do not correspond to the same gearboxes or the same engines. Before browsing the categories, locate your code: it can be found on the engine casing or in the vehicle's documents.

Diesel: Transit, Focus, C-Max — the identification pitfalls by engine type

The 2.2 TDCi is the most widely represented engine on the Transit side, with around fifty distinct codes (CVF5, CYF4, DRFA to DRFF, PGFA, UHFA, UHFB…) covering several generations and power outputs ranging from 85 to 155 hp: the same Transit can take incompatible parts depending on its year of first registration. The 2.0 EcoBlue (recent Transit and Tourneo models, codes BC2X, BCFA to BCFD, BJFA to BJFD, YMF6, YNF6…) differs significantly from the older 2.0 TDCi: gearboxes and engines are not interchangeable. On the Focus and C-Max diesel, the 1.6 TDCi (G8DA, G8DB, T1DA, T1DB, HHDA, TZJA…) and the 1.8 TDCi (FFDA, QYBA, QYWA, HCPA, P9PA, RWPA…) sometimes share 5-speed manual gearboxes, but bare engines remain specific to each code.

Petrol: EcoBoost, Ti-VCT and a few key things to know

The 1.0 EcoBoost (B7DA, M1DA, M1JA, M1JC, M2DA, SFCA to SFCF, SFJA to SFJN…) is fitted to the Fiesta, Focus, B-Max and EcoSport across a wide range of years; the associated gearboxes are exclusively 5- or 6-speed manuals depending on the generation. The 2.5 Turbo of the Focus ST and RS (codes HYDA and JZDA) requires specific 6-speed manual gearboxes, which are in no way comparable to the 2.0 Ti-VCT gearboxes (AOBA, AOBC, AOWA). The reconditioned turbos available in the collection cover primarily TDCi diesel blocks as well as EcoBoost units. EDEN BOITES offers engines in bare engine form only across all of these engine types.
