1.6 HDi or 1.6 BlueHDi: two distinct engines under the same Peugeot displacement

This is the most common pitfall across the Peugeot range: a 308 or an Expert listed as a 1.6 diesel may be fitted with a DV6ATED4, a DV6FC_BHZ or indeed a DV6FDU_BHS — engines that share the same displacement but differ in bore and stroke, electrical connectors, and emissions control system. The move to Euro 6 standards shifted part of the range to the 1.6 BlueHDi (code DV6FC / BHZ), which is incompatible with earlier HDi references. Before placing any order, the code stamped on the engine block is the only reliable identifier.

PureTech and HDi: two opposing approaches depending on model and generation

The petrol range has been substantially restructured around the EB family of engines (three-cylinder and four-cylinder units). The 1.0 PureTech (codes EB0_ZMZ, ZM01) is fitted to smaller models such as the 107 and certain versions of the 208, whilst the 1.2 PureTech covers a range spanning from the 208 to the 5008, with around ten code variants (EB2DT, EB2ADTS_HNS, EB2DTS_HNY, EB2FDTS_HNY…) depending on output and generation. The 1.6 THP, meanwhile, is a turbocharged four-cylinder with direct injection (codes EP6CDT_5FV, EP6CDTX_5FU, EP6DTS_5FY), found on the 308, 3008 and 508, and known for its sensitivity around the timing chain. These three engine families share no parts with one another.

2.0 HDi, 2.0 BlueHDi and 2.2 HDi: the engines for heavier models and the Boxer

The 2.0 HDi (DW10 family) is the most extensive engine architecture in this guide, with variants ranging from the DW10BTED4_RHF to the DW10FUE_AHM, fitted to the 307, 407, 508, 3008 and Expert. The transition to the 2.0 BlueHDi 180 (codes DW10FC_AHW, EHZ / DW10FC) represents a technological break: the two engines are not interchangeable. The 2.2 HDi, reserved for the Boxer, the long-wheelbase Expert and the 807, covers references DW12RUC_4HH, DW12RUD, DW12RUE and a series of 4H codes (4HG, 4HH, 4HJ, 4HM, 4HU…): here again, each code corresponds to a precise power output and emissions standard configuration. A reconditioned engine from this range is supplied as a bare engine; ancillary components (turbo, alternator, starter motor) are not included.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does a reconditioned Peugeot engine cost?

The price depends on the engine and the exact reference, and is always well below the price of a new part. For an exact price for your vehicle, enter your number plate or request a free online quote.

Is this Peugeot engine compatible with my exact model?

We offer 246 references covering the main Peugeot models. Compatibility is checked against the engine / gearbox code: give us your number plate and we will confirm the exact engine for your vehicle.

What is the difference between new, used and exchange?

A used part is resold as is, with no work done. An exchange unit is an original engine rebuilt in our workshop, inspected and guaranteed for up to 24 months: reliability close to new, at a used-part price.

What do the warranty and delivery include?

A warranty of up to 24 months, an invoice with every part, return transport arranged for collecting your old unit, delivery throughout Europe and payment in up to 10 instalments.
