The answer depends first on the model, then on the engine and year, as the same vehicle can take several completely unrelated gearbox families. This catalogue covers vehicles produced between 1981 and 2026, from city cars to heavy commercial vehicles, in manual, automated manual or dual-clutch form, sold on an exchange basis or rebuilt from your own unit.

Manual, DSG, automated manual: very different families not to be confused

5- and 6-speed manual gearboxes make up the majority of the catalogue, but automated manual and dual-clutch transmissions have accounted for a growing share of fitments since the 2000s. The types featured here range from classic manual gearboxes to DSG 6 and DSG 7 (sold without the mechatronic unit, with a new dual-clutch), through to automated manual units such as Dualogic, Quickshift, SensoDrive, Easytronic and BMP6 (sold without the robot or actuator). Mixing up these families when ordering is the most common mistake: a DSG 7 and a 6-speed manual can both be fitted to the same 2.0 TDI engine depending on the year and specification.

The same trap exists on the engine side: the 1.9 TDI alone covers more than thirty engine codes (AFN, AGR, AHF, ALH, ASZ, BKC, BXE…), each of which may require a specific gearbox. The 2.0 TDI covers even more, with codes such as AZV, BKD, CAGA, CFHA, CJAA and CUNA that are not interchangeable between generations. For the Renault 1.5 dCi, the K9K family spans several dozen variants (K9K 626, K9K 704, K9K 800, K9K 872…) whose ratios and mountings differ.

Commercial vehicles (Master, Trafic, Movano, Transit, Ducato, Jumper, Boxer) follow the same rules but often combine torque and gear ratio variants linked to payload capacity, making accurate identification of the engine code even more critical.
