Opel parts from 1998 to 2025: from Z17DT engines in the workhorse Vivaro to B14NET blocks in the city-going Corsa, no two parts are the same

A fully laden Vivaro on the motorway and a Corsa used in town place very different demands on their transmission and engine. Across the Opel collection, this real-world difference is reflected directly in the breadth of parts available: gearboxes, engines and turbos covering vehicles with very different profiles — heavy-duty vans (Vivaro, Movano, Combo), family saloons (Astra, Insignia, Vectra), city cars (Corsa, Agila, Adam), MPVs (Meriva, Zafira) and SUVs (Mokka, Antara, Grandland, Crossland).

Identifying the right part by generation and engine code

The main pitfall with Opel is thinking in terms of engine capacity rather than engine code. A 1.7 CDTi can conceal a Z17DT, a Z17DTH, an A17DTJ, an A17DTR or an A17DTS depending on the year and power output — each corresponding to a distinct gearbox or bare engine. Likewise, the 1.9 CDTi found in the Astra, Zafira or first-generation Vivaro covers codes Z19DT, Z19DTH, Z19DTJ or F9Q depending on the Opel/Renault supply source at the time. On the 2.0 CDTi, codes A20DTH, A20DTJ, B20DTH or M9R coexist across the Insignia, Astra J or Vivaro depending on the model year. The engine code stamped on the block remains the only reliable reference before placing any order.

Vans, SUVs and city cars: distinct part families with their own logic

On the Vivaro and Movano — the two models most represented in the collection — the 6-speed manual gearbox and the 2.5 CDTi (G9U) or 2.3 CDTi (M9T) engine are the most in-demand parts, typically in intensive professional use. The Movano 2.8 CDTi (8140.43) and 3.0 CDTi (ZD30) cater for even more demanding applications such as motorhomes or heavy panel vans. At the other end of the scale, the Corsa and Meriva are centred around compact petrol engines — 1.2, 1.4, 1.4 Turbo — with 5-speed manual gearboxes and the automated manual transmissions Easytronic and Tecshift, sold without the actuator or robot unit. Reconditioned and new turbos cover mainly the CDTi blocks found in the Vivaro, Astra and Insignia. Two sales methods are available depending on the reference: exchange and rebuild of your own unit.
