The 207 is above all a versatile city car, produced from 2006 to 2013, frequently subjected to short journeys, repeated cold starts and intensive urban driving. This type of use prematurely wears certain internal components: piston ring wear, valve guide fouling on petrol units, or oil circuit blockages on diesels. Five engine variants — engine codes not to be confused

The 1.4 HDi is identified as F6JA or F6JB depending on the version. The 1.6 HDi carries the code DV6ATED4 or 9HX. Two vehicles with the same engine capacity and the same stated power output may therefore be fitted with non-interchangeable units: only the engine code stamped on the block is definitive.

Diesel or petrol: different weaknesses depending on the unit

The 1.6 THP is well known for its oil consumption and timing chain issues, particularly on early versions. The 1.6 VTi is generally more robust but remains sensitive to maintenance quality. On the diesel side, the 1.6 HDi (DV6) can develop head gasket leaks under intensive urban use. The 1.4 HDi, less stressed in terms of power output, typically ages better in a strictly city-driving context. All engines offered here are bare engines: ancillary components (alternator, starter motor, turbo, injection system) are not included and must be sourced from the old unit or ordered separately.
