The same 1.6 HDi on the 5008 can correspond to more than ten different engine codes

This is the most common pitfall with this range: the 1.6 HDi is by far the most widely represented engine, with codes ranging from DV6DTED à DV6ETED, BH01, DV6FC_BHZ and even NGDA / NGDB depending on the generation and power output. These engines share the same capacity but are not mechanically interchangeable: an engine from a DV6DTED code cannot simply replace a DV6FC without verification. The engine code, stamped on the block, is the only reliable reference when ordering the correct part.

Diesel and petrol: two very distinct engine families

On the diesel side, the 5008 covers two main families: the DW10 (2.0 HDi and 2.0 BlueHDi 150, codes DW10FC_EHZ, DW10FC_AHW, DW10FD_AHX) and the DV6 (1.6 HDi, multiple variants). The 2.0 HDi is known for EGR valve and turbo issues on certain versions, while several variants of the 1.6 HDi have cylinder head weaknesses linked to operating temperature. On the petrol side, three engines coexist: the 1.6 THP (EP6CDT, code 5FV), known to be prone to timing chain stretch and oil consumption on early versions; the 1.6 VTi (codes T1WA / T1WB); and the 1.2 PureTech (code EB2DTS_HNY), which appeared on the most recent model years in the range (up to 2024) and features a three-cylinder architecture that differs from the four-cylinder blocks that preceded it.

Two supply options depending on the condition of the original block

The bare engines in this range are available in two distinct ways. In the first, a reconditioned block is dispatched and the old one is returned. In the second, known as rebuilt to 0 km, the customer's own block is rebuilt and returned — a relevant option when the original block has a reference or configuration that is difficult to source as a direct replacement. The choice between the two depends on an accurate diagnosis of the faulty block and the engine code in question.
