10 engine codes for the Partner: from WJY to EP6CB – what each reference means

The Partner dossier covers ten distinct engine codes spread across five engine families and nearly twenty years of production (1996–2015). It is the code stamped on the block — not the engine capacity alone — that determines which part can replace yours. A 1.6 HDi, for example, may carry a DV6ATED4, a DV6BTED4, or a DV6DTED_9HF depending on the generation and emissions standard: three distinct blocks, none of which can be substituted for another.

Diesel: four DV6 families and the older 1.9 D WJY

Partner diesels built before 2010 are predominantly fitted with PSA DV6 blocks (codes DV6ATED4 and DV6BTED4). The 1.9 D WJY covers first-generation Partners from 1996 onwards; it is a naturally aspirated block with no turbo, and bears no resemblance to the DV6 units. Post-2015 Partners adopted the 1.5 BlueHDi (codes 9H02 and DV6DTED_9HF), a revised architecture designed to meet Euro 6 standards and mechanically different from earlier DV6 units.

Petrol: EP6CB and PureTech HNP / HN05 / YHZ / YH01

The 1.6 VTi (code EP6CB_5FK) is the sole representative of the 16-valve Prince family on this light commercial vehicle. The 1.2 PureTech encompasses four codes (YHZ, YH01, HNP, HN05), each corresponding to an internal evolution of the three-cylinder turbo engine: the timing chain, cylinder head and sump differ from one series to the next. Checking the full code before placing any order is essential, as confusion between two PureTech variants is common and the blocks are not interchangeable.
