This reconditioned gearbox is designed for the Volkswagen Crafter fitted with the 2.5 TDI engine (2461 cm³), compatible with engine codes BJJ, BJK, BJL, BJM and CECA; it corresponds to reference HRF in Shiftmatic configuration. Reconditioning involves fully stripping the gearbox, cleaning and inspecting every component, replacing internal wear parts such as gears, synchros, bearings and seals, then reassembling the unit to manufacturer tolerances before a bench test.

Signs that the Shiftmatic Gearbox Needs Replacing

On a Crafter fitted with this automated gearbox, several warning signs should not be ignored: jerky or delayed gear changes, juddering during automated clutch engagement, a gearbox warning light on the dashboard, intermittent loss of a gear, metallic noise or grinding whilst driving, or the gearbox becoming stuck in neutral despite attempts to select a gear.

Exchange Basis and Return of the Old Unit

This gearbox is sold on an exchange basis, rebuilt to 0 km. Delivery takes place before the old unit is collected: the reconditioned gearbox is dispatched first, avoiding any unnecessary downtime for the vehicle during fitting. The old gearbox, with its casing intact, is only collected after the HRF gearbox has been delivered and installed; return of the old unit is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

This gearbox is sold without the Shiftmatic actuator: this electronic component is neither supplied nor included in the sale, it is neither reconditioned nor tested, and it remains the vehicle's original unit, to be reused by the customer.

Reference HRF is compatible with engines identified by codes BJJ, BJK, BJL, BJM and CECA, as fitted to the Volkswagen Crafter 2.5 TDI.

Warranty and Payment

This reconditioned gearbox is covered by a 24-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
