Signs that your 6-speed manual gearbox needs replacing
On a Vivaro fitted with this CDTi unit, several warning signs indicate the gearbox is nearing the end of its life: stiff or grinding gear changes, particularly on the lower ratios; gears jumping out under load when carrying goods; vibrations felt through the gear lever at idle; a metallic rumbling noise while driving; or visible oil leaking from the casing. Abnormal resistance when engaging the clutch during gear changes should also be taken as a warning.

The old gearbox, with its casing intact, is only collected after the new unit has been delivered and fitted. Return of the old unit is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
Reconditioning follows a comprehensive process: full strip-down of the gearbox, cleaning and inspection of every component, replacement of internal wear parts such as gears, synchros, bearings and seals, followed by reassembly to manufacturer tolerances and bench testing before dispatch.
