This reconditioned DSG 7 gearbox is designed for Volkswagen Golf models fitted with a 1.6 TDI engine of 1598 cm³, corresponding to engine codes CAYB, CAYC, CLHA and CRKB. It carries the reference PKQ. Reconditioning means the gearbox is fully stripped, cleaned and inspected in detail; any gears, synchros, bearings and seals showing wear are replaced, and the unit is then reassembled to manufacturer tolerances before undergoing a bench test.

Signs that this DSG 7 needs replacing

On this Golf 1.6 TDI, several warning signs indicate the end of the DSG gearbox's service life:

• juddering or jerking during gear changes
• slipping or clutch slip from the dual-clutch under acceleration
• gearbox warning light illuminated on the dashboard
• sudden drop into limp mode (emergency mode)
• metallic noises or vibrations at low speed

Exchange basis – no vehicle downtime

This gearbox is sold on an exchange basis: the reconditioned gearbox is dispatched before the old unit is collected. The garage is therefore never left without a part, and the vehicle is not off the road while waiting. Once the new gearbox has been delivered and fitted, the old gearbox – with its casing intact – must be returned; this return is mandatory in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

This gearbox is sold without the mechatronic unit: this component is not supplied or included in the sale, it is neither reconditioned nor tested, and it remains the vehicle's original unit, to be reused by the customer. The dual-clutch, however, is included with this reference PKQ.

Warranty and payment

This reconditioned gearbox is covered by a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
