Which reconditioned engine is the exact match for my vehicle?

The answer rarely comes down to engine capacity alone: a single 2.0 TDI can cover more than fifty distinct engine codes, and a 1.5 dCi comes in around forty variants depending on the year and power output. Only the code stamped on the block — found on the registration document or directly on the engine itself — allows you to identify without any ambiguity the exact reference to order.

This collection brings together reconditioned bare engines sold on an exchange basis, covering more than thirty models — Transit, Golf, Leon, Boxer, 308, Master, Octavia, Scénic, Astra, Expert, Kangoo, Mégane, Vivaro, Corsa, Laguna, Transporter, Qashqai, Clio, Cooper, Ducato and many more — spanning model years from 1988 to 2026, in both diesel and petrol.

Why engine capacity alone is not enough to make the right choice

Let's look at three concrete examples. The 2.2 HDi from PSA exists across the DW12RUD, DW12RUC, DW12RUE and DW12MTED4 families, each carrying its own code (4HH, 4HJ, 4HK, 4HU, 4HV…) — blocks that cannot be substituted for one another. The 2.2 TDCi Ford shares several codes with the 2.2 HDi (CVF5, CVFF, CYF5, PGFA, UHFA…) but is distinguished by other references specific to the Transit or Tourneo range. The 1.6 HDi / BlueHDi alone covers codes ranging from DV6ATED4 to DV6FCU, with 92, 115 and 120 hp variants that correspond to physically different blocks. Browsing by brand and then by model, whilst systematically checking the engine code, is the only reliable method.

Diesel, petrol, light commercials: the main engine families covered

On the diesel side, the most widely represented families are the K9K (1.5 dCi) Renault-Nissan with more than fifty codes, the M9T (2.3 dCi) for large Renault, Opel and Nissan light commercials, and the DW10 / DW12 blocks from the Stellantis group. The Volkswagen group's 2.0 TDI engines also cover a very wide spectrum, from the AZV through to the CUNA and CUPA series. On the petrol side, the 1.2 PureTech (EB2), 1.2 TSI (CBZ / CJZ) and 2.0 TSI are well covered, as are the 1.0 EcoBoost small blocks (M1DA, M1DD, SFCE…) found widely on recent Ford models. For heavier light commercials, the 2.2 TDCi, 2.3 dCi, 2.5 dCi and 2.2 HDi engines have specific references depending on the manufacturer and the vehicle generation.

All engines listed here are sold as bare engines: ancillary components (turbo, alternator, starter motor, injection system…) are not included and must either be transferred from the old block or replaced separately. To find the correct reference, select your brand, then your model, and check that the engine code shown matches the one on your vehicle. EDEN BOITES also offers the rebuilding of your own unit for certain references, as an alternative to the standard exchange.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is an exchange engine?

It is an original engine fully rebuilt in our workshop: wear parts replaced, settings redone and bench-tested before dispatch. You get a reliable engine for far less than a new one, and you send us back your old unit (the core), which we recondition in turn — a genuine circular economy approach.

What warranty comes with a reconditioned engine?

Every part is guaranteed for up to 24 months on the part, subject to conditions. Our engines are bench-tested before dispatch, and every order comes with an invoice (VAT reclaimable for trade customers).

How do I find the right engine for my vehicle?

The easiest way: enter your number plate and we identify the exact model in seconds. You can also request an online quote — our advisers check compatibility using your registration document or the original part reference.

What are the delivery and payment terms?

Delivery throughout France and Europe, with return transport arranged for the exchange of the part. You can pay in instalments, up to 10 payments, to spread the cost.
