Nissan Turbos from the YD22 to the V9X Engine Family: Which Engine Code Goes with Which Part?

On the Nissan diesel and petrol engines covered here, the engine code stamped on the block is the only reliable reference for avoiding part number errors. The YD22DDTi is fitted to the 2.2 dCi versions of the Primera, Almera, X-Trail and Terrano across several power outputs (114, 125, 126, 136, 139 hp); it coexists with the YD22DDT and YD22ETI variants, which do not necessarily share the same turbo reference. The YD25DDTi (also written YD25DDTI) is the most widespread engine in the range: it covers the 2.5 dCi versions of the Navara, Pathfinder, Cabstar and X-Trail from 110 to 190 hp, with different turbos depending on the exact power output. The YD25K3LD and the QW25 appear on certain higher-specification versions of the Navara: an identical power output listed in the catalogue does not guarantee interchangeability.

ZD30, V9X, M9T, K9K: The Other Engine Code Families Not to Confuse

The ZD30DDTi (3.0 D 150 hp) and its variants ZD30DDTI / ZD30ETI power the Patrol and Terrano 3.0 DTi/Di: three distinct codes, three variable-geometry turbo configurations, whose manufacturer references are not interchangeable. The V9X and V9X891 are fitted to the Pathfinder 3.0 dCi at 231, 238 and 241 hp. The M9T covers the 2.3 dCi versions of the NV400 and Interstar across a range of 125 to 165 hp. On the petrol side, the MR16DDT in the Juke 1.6 DIG-T 190 hp uses a specific fixed-geometry turbo with no diesel equivalent in the range.

Micra, Note, Qashqai: The Small dCi Engines and Their K9K Codes

The 1.5 dCi engines from 65 to 110 hp (Micra, Note, Qashqai, Almera Tino) are based on the K9K family, with suffixes that vary according to power output and year: K9K 260, 702, 704, 722 for the 65 and 82 hp versions; K9K 608, 628, 629, 892 for the 90 hp; K9K 410, 636, 646, 666, 896 for the 110 hp. The reconditioned turbo offered varies according to this suffix: always check the full code, not just the engine capacity. On these engines, an air intake leak upstream of the turbo or degraded oil are the most common causes of failure; addressing the root cause before fitting a replacement is essential to avoid damaging the new or reconditioned part.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

The turbos on this page are new. Each product page states the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Nissan.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

No. The turbos on this page are new and sold as a straight sale: nothing to send back, your old turbo stays with you and there is one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Nissan?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
