Critical repairs are generally carried out between 120 000 and 180 000 kilometres, primarily on the CVT transmission, the turbocharger and the injection system. Insufficient lubrication, low-quality engine oil or excessively long oil-change intervals all accelerate premature wear of the turbo bearings and shaft. A clogged air filter or a damaged intercooler can also cause abnormal operation, power loss or overheating of the compressor.

Before installing the new turbo, check the condition of the oil circuit, the cleanliness of the oil feed and return hoses, as well as the air intake and intercooler, to avoid any contamination or lack of lubrication of the new component. When starting up, it is advisable to prime the turbo with oil before the first engine start, to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings. Regular maintenance of the air filter and engine oil changes will then help to extend the service life of the turbo on your X-Trail T30.
