The 2.5 dCi covers two entirely distinct engine families: the YD25 family (available as YD25DDTi, YD25DDTI and YD25K3LD), fitted to the Nissan Navara, Nissan Pathfinder and Nissan Cabstar; and the G9U family, exclusive to the Renault Master, with its variants G9U 632, G9U 650, G9U 720, G9U 724, G9U 750 and G9U 754. These two families share no OEM references whatsoever: ordering a turbo without knowing your engine code is simply a matter of chance.

YD25: one designation, multiple power outputs, multiple references

The YD25 engine covers a wide power range — from 110 hp to 190 hp depending on the variant — and a single code can span several output levels. The code YD25DDTi appears across listings ranging from 122 hp to 190 hp, and up to 174 hp on the Navara. The code YD25DDTI (note the different spelling — watch the capitalisation) covers engines from 110 to 136 hp. The code YD25K3LD and the code QW25 each appear under their own specific listings. The exact OEM reference — and its equivalent references — varies according to these codes: checking the engine plate before placing any order is essential.

G9U on the Renault Master: six codes for a single engine capacity

The G9U engine in the Renault Master 2.5 dCi comes in six distinct engine codes (G9U 632, G9U 650, G9U 720, G9U 724, G9U 750, G9U 754), spread across power outputs from 100 to 120 hp. Each code corresponds to a different OEM reference: the turbos for G9U 632 and G9U 650 are not interchangeable with those for G9U 720 through G9U 754, even where the stated power output is the same. On a high-mileage van like the Master, the most common causes of turbo failure are degraded or insufficient oil at the CHRA bearings, and contamination caused by poor filtration. Classic symptoms — a distinctive whistling noise, blue smoke, or a sudden loss of power — mean the root cause must be diagnosed and resolved before any replacement is carried out, otherwise the new part will deteriorate rapidly. All turbos offered in this collection are new turbos, sold with no old unit to return.
