YD25DDTi or QW25: two engine codes for the same 2.5 dCi, but not the same turbo

No, not all Navara 2.5 dCi models share the same turbo. The answer lies first and foremost in the engine code stamped on the block: the YD25DDTi is the reference block found on the vast majority of configurations, whilst the QW25 appears on certain versions covering outputs of 144, 171, 174 and 190 hp. At the same power output, two vehicles carrying different codes may require distinct manufacturer references — and that is the first identification pitfall on this model.

Manufacturer references: the same power output, several possible part numbers

Nissan references multiply across this engine: the 14411-EB… family (EB70A to EB71E, EC00A to EC00E) covers the most common YD25DDTi variants, whilst references such as 751243-5002S or 767720-5004S / 5006S correspond to other power variants. Identifying the correct turbo therefore requires cross-referencing the engine code, the power output in hp, and wherever possible the original reference visible on the casing of the fitted turbo.

Causes and symptoms to be aware of before replacement

The YD25DDTi is sensitive to lubrication quality: prematurely worn bearings are often a sign of degraded oil or an overdue service interval. The characteristic symptoms are a whistling noise under acceleration, persistent exhaust smoke, or a marked loss of power with the vehicle entering limp mode. Before fitting a new turbo, it is essential to address the root cause — EGR fouling, the oil circuit, or an air leak on the intake line — to prevent the new part from failing prematurely. All turbos offered in this collection are new turbos, sold with no unit to return.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

The turbos on this page are new. Each product page states the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Nissan Navara 2.5 dCi Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

No. The turbos on this page are new and sold as a straight sale: nothing to send back, your old turbo stays with you and there is one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Nissan Navara 2.5 dCi Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
