Symptoms of a failing turbo on the Nissan Almera Tino 2.2 dCi
On the Nissan Almera Tino fitted with the 2.2 dCi engine, a worn turbocharger typically makes itself known through a noticeable loss of power on acceleration, an unusual whistling noise under throttle, blue or black exhaust smoke, and the engine warning light coming on. Excessive play in the turbine shaft, high oil consumption, or oil entering the intake circuit are also tell-tale signs of wear on this model. These symptoms should be addressed promptly to avoid causing further damage to the engine.

Exchange and warranty for the Almera Tino
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your vehicle is never left off the road unnecessarily. A 12-month parts warranty applies, provided fitting is carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over up to 10 instalments.
Fitting advice for the YD22DDTi engine
Before installing the new turbo, carefully check the oil circuit: ensure the feed and return hoses are clean and unobstructed, that oil pressure is correct, and that the oil filter has been changed. Also check the condition of the air filter and intercooler, as a clogged air intake or a damaged intercooler will accelerate turbocharger wear. Aggressive driving, infrequent oil changes, or the use of unsuitable oil are among the most common causes of turbo failure on this engine. After fitting, prime the turbo with oil before the first start-up to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings.
