Turbo Chevrolet Cruze or Captiva: petrol new, diesel new — two vehicles, two distinct engine families

All the turbos listed here are brand new — no unit to recondition, no prior return required. This sales model simplifies the choice in the majority of cases, but it also shapes the decision: if your original turbo has suffered an isolated mechanical failure on an otherwise sound engine, having your own unit rebuilt by a specialist remains an option worth considering. Within this Chevrolet range, the five references cover two models — Cruze and Captiva — and two clearly distinct engine families, petrol and diesel, which share no turbo components whatsoever.

Cruze: two petrol engines, one diesel — identifying the correct engine code is the first step

The Cruze is available with several turbocharged engines. On the petrol side, the 1.4 T 150 hp corresponds to engine codes B14XFL, B14XFT, B14XNT and LE2; the 1.4 Turbo 140 carries codes A14NET and LUJ. These two 1.4 turbocharged petrol engines are close in capacity, but their turbos are not interchangeable: only the engine code stamped on the block can settle the matter. On the diesel side, the 2.0 VCDi 150 / 127 hp (Z20DM, Z20DMH, Z20S) and the 2.0 VCDi 131 / 163 hp (Z20D1) are power variants of the same 2.0 diesel, but with different turbo references depending on the output level. Mixing up these two groups is the most common mistake made on the Cruze diesel.

Captiva: the 2.2 D in two power outputs — understanding the failure pattern

The Captiva diesel is built around the 2.2 D available in 163 hp (A22DM, LNQ) and 184 hp (A22DMH) versions. These two variants do not use the same turbo reference, even though the power difference is small. On this engine, turbo failures are frequently linked to deterioration of the oil circuit: gradual sludge build-up, degraded oil, or missed service intervals weaken the bearings and the CHRA seals. Before any replacement, it is essential to identify and address the mechanical or maintenance root cause of the failure — fitting a new turbo to an engine with a compromised lubrication circuit will lead to the same fault recurring. The classic symptoms — whistling, blue smoke under acceleration, loss of power under load — must be cross-referenced with the engine code to identify the correct manufacturer reference from those available in this collection.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

The turbos on this page are new. Each product page states the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Chevrolet.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

No. The turbos on this page are new and sold as a straight sale: nothing to send back, your old turbo stays with you and there is one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Chevrolet?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
