From 1.4 TDI engines of the 2000s to the latest 2.0 TDI 190 hp units: two ways to source your Skoda turbo, depending on the part and its availability

The Skoda range today covers seven models — Octavia, Superb, Fabia, Roomster, Yeti, Karoq, Rapid — spanning from the earliest Octavia and Fabia with 1.9 TDI engines through to current generations fitted with 2.0 TDI 150 or 190 hp units. This breadth creates a practical reality: depending on the engine and year, the turbo is available either as a new part or as a reconditioned exchange unit. This is not an arbitrary choice — it is dictated by the availability of new parts on the market. For the most recent references (CKFC, CRMB, CYKA on the 2.0 TDI 150; CZDA, CZEA on the 1.4 TSI 150), a new part is often available. For older or less widely distributed references, the reconditioned exchange unit becomes the primary option.

When having your own part rebuilt makes sense

On certain variable-geometry turbos fitted to Superb or Octavia generations equipped with the 2.5 TDI — engine codes AFB, AKE, AKN, AYM, BAU, BCZ, BDG, BDH, BFC, BND — the original part is difficult to source new, and the reconditioned references available may not match the customer's own housing exactly. In this case, sending your own part away for reconditioning (rebuild) allows the original casing, machining tolerances and oil connections to be retained in line with the engine block. This approach is also relevant when the turbo has suffered limited mechanical failure (CHRA, bearings) with no damage to the turbine housing, or when the vehicle is rare and an exchange unit cannot guarantee a physically identical reference.

Identification: the engine code, not the engine capacity or the stated power output

On Skoda, the same power output can cover very different turbos. The 1.9 TDI exists in 100, 101, 105, 110, 115 and 130 hp versions, each with its own engine codes and its own turbo references: AHF and ASV for the 110 hp, ASZ for the 130 hp, BJB, BKC, BLS, BXE for the 105 hp. Likewise, the 2.0 TDI 170 hp exists in a rear-wheel-drive version (BMN, CBBB, CEGA, CFGB) and in a 4-wheel-drive version with additional codes (CFJA, CLLA) — the turbos are not necessarily interchangeable between the two. The engine code stamped on the block remains the only reliable starting point, before any OEM reference.

Symptoms and causes to address before any replacement

On Skoda TDI engines with variable geometry (the majority in this range), the most common failures are linked to carbon build-up on the turbine vanes — encouraged by EGR or DPF fouling — and to insufficient lubrication, often the result of extended oil change intervals. The typical symptoms are a gradual loss of power, a whistling noise under acceleration and the vehicle entering limp mode. On the 1.4 TSI and 1.8 T petrol units (CAVE, APP, ARZ, AUM), an air leak on the intake circuit or degraded oil are the most well-documented causes of turbo failure. Whatever the engine, addressing the root cause before refitting the part is what determines the service life of the replacement turbo.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

The turbos on this page are new. Each product page states the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Skoda.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

No. The turbos on this page are new and sold as a straight sale: nothing to send back, your old turbo stays with you and there is one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Skoda?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
