Identifying the correct turbo reference for your SKODA Octavia
Before placing any order, it is essential to check the reference number on your SKODA Octavia's old turbo, as several variants exist depending on the year of manufacture and the original equipment supplier. This new turbo is compatible with reference 775517-5005S, as well as all equivalent references listed on this page. A visual check of the identification plate, or the label affixed to the turbo housing, will confirm the match before you order.
Engine fitment on the Octavia
This new turbo is designed to fit the SKODA Octavia with the 1.6 TDI 105 ch diesel engine, with an engine capacity of 1598 cm³ and engine code CAYC. This diesel unit, extremely common on this generation of Octavia, relies on precise boost management to maintain its performance and fuel efficiency in everyday use, whether in town or on the open road.
Exchange basis and warranty
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Octavia is never left off the road. It comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before and after fitting
On a 1.6 TDI CAYC engine, the most common cause of premature turbo failure is inadequate lubrication: poor-quality engine oil, missed oil changes, or a clogged oil filter all accelerate bearing wear. A blocked air filter or a leaking intercooler will also disrupt air intake and place abnormal strain on the turbo. Before fitting, it is advisable to check the condition of the oil circuit, the intake hoses and the air intake, to rule out any cause of failure external to the turbo itself. After fitting, priming the turbo with oil before the first start-up is recommended, to ensure immediate bearing lubrication as soon as the engine is running. Gentle driving during the first few kilometres also helps the new turbo bed in gradually.
