On the Octavia, the same quoted power output can conceal two incompatible turbos

This is the case across several engine variants on this page: two Octavias showing the same engine capacity and the same power output may require turbos with entirely different manufacturer references. Only the engine code stamped on the block can unambiguously identify the correct reference for a given vehicle.

This collection covers twelve Skoda Octavia engine variants, from the 1.9 TDI 90 to the 2.0 TDI 170 on the diesel side, plus the 1.6 TDI 105, the 1.4 TSI 140/150 and the 1.8 T RS 180 on the petrol side, representing more than forty distinct engine codes.

Diesel: three 1.9 TDI families and two generations of 2.0 TDI

The 1.9 TDI variants fall into four engine code groups that do not share the same turbo: codes AGR / ALH (90 hp), AHF / ASV (110 hp, found in both the 100/110 hp and 110 hp variants depending on the generation), ASZ (130 hp) and BJB / BKC / BLS / BXE (105 hp). Confusing an AGR with a BKC simply because both are 1.9 TDI units is the most common identification mistake.

On the 2.0 TDI, the dividing line falls between codes AZV / BKD / BKP / CFHC / CLCB (136/140 hp), BMN / CEGA (170 hp, first variant), CFFA / CFFB (170 hp, second variant) and CKFC / CRMB / CYKA / DCYA / DFFA (150 hp). These four groups correspond to distinct turbo geometries; a variable-geometry turbo designed for a CEGA is not interchangeable with one for a BKD, even at the same power output. The 1.6 TDI 105 (engine code CAYC) is a standalone engine variant with its own turbo reference.

Petrol RS and TSI: new or reconditioned turbo depending on the engine variant

The 1.8 T RS 180 (codes APP, ARZ, AUM, AUQ, AWP, AWU, AWV, BKF, BNU, JAE) is the only engine variant in this collection available exclusively as a reconditioned turbo. The 1.4 TSI 140/150 (codes CHPA, CHPB, CPTA, CZDA, CZEA) is offered as a new turbo; these codes cover successive technical evolutions of the block, with wastegate turbos whose manufacturer references differ from one code to the next.

On the 1.9 TDI 105 (BJB, BKC, BLS, BXE), both options are available: new turbo and reconditioned turbo. Whichever option is chosen, the root cause of the failure — oil circuit contamination, a blocked EGR, or a faulty intake hose gasket — must be addressed before the replacement is fitted; failure to do so risks rapidly damaging the replacement turbo through oil starvation or particle ingestion.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

It depends on the reference: each product page states whether the turbo is new (straight sale, nothing to send back) or reconditioned (exchange basis), together with the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Skoda Octavia Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

Only for a reconditioned turbo, sold on an exchange basis: you return your old turbo after the new one has been delivered and fitted, and we arrange the collection. A new turbo is a straight sale: nothing to send back, one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Skoda Octavia Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
