On the Superb, all available turbos are new — and the right one is identified by the engine code, not the rated power output

The Superb spans several generations with diesel engines and one petrol unit (1.8 T, code AWT) whose turbos do not overlap between engine families. All references listed here are new turbos, sold without exchange: no old unit is required in return. This arrangement simplifies the process — no delays caused by returning a worn core — but it makes accurate identification before ordering all the more critical. Rated power alone is not enough: a 1.9 TDI 101 hp can correspond to engine codes AVB, BPZ or BSV, and those same 101 hp also appear in another engine line (AFN, AHH, AJM, ATJ, AVB) covering 110 and 115 hp as well. Two distinct groups, two distinct sets of references.

Diesel: five power families, references that do not cross over

The 2.5 TDI (150, 155 and 163 hp) groups ten engine codes — AFB, AKE, AKN, AYM, BAU, BCZ, BDG, BDH, BFC, BND — with a variable-geometry turbo specific to this 6-cylinder block. The 2.0 TDI covers several generations: 136–140 hp (codes AZV, BKD, CBAA, CBAB, CFFA, CFFB, CLJA), 170 hp (CBBB, CFGB) and 190 hp (DDAA, DFCA, DFHA). The 1.6 TDI 120 hp (codes DCXA, DCZA) and the 1.9 TDI 105 hp (BLS, BXE) complete the diesel range. Each group has its own manufacturer references: the prefixes 059, 03G, 038, 03L or 04L in the OEM references already indicate the relevant engine family.

Common symptoms and key checks before replacement

The typical signs of a failing turbo on these engines are a noticeable loss of power, an abnormal whistling noise as the revs rise, or blue smoke from the exhaust caused by an internal oil leak. On the more heavily loaded TDI versions (2.0 and 2.5), a clogged oil circuit and poor lubrication on start-up are frequent causes of premature bearing wear. Fitting a new turbo without addressing the root cause — a blocked oil filter, a fouled EGR, or an air leak in the intake circuit — risks a swift recurrence. Diagnosing the underlying cause is an essential prerequisite to replacement.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

The turbos on this page are new. Each product page states the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Skoda Superb Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

No. The turbos on this page are new and sold as a straight sale: nothing to send back, your old turbo stays with you and there is one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Skoda Superb Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
