What changes behind the wheel of your Skoda Superb with a fully functioning turbo

On a Skoda Superb I fitted with the 1.9 TDI, a turbo in good working order makes itself felt immediately: sharper pick-up from low revs, smooth and linear power delivery, and no whistling or smoke under acceleration. A worn turbo, on the other hand, shows up as a gradual loss of power, an illuminated engine warning light, blue or black exhaust smoke, and sometimes a high-pitched whistling noise when accelerating. Fitting a new turbo restores the saloon's original performance and preserves everyday driving comfort, whether in town or on the motorway.

Compatibility of the new turbo for the Skoda Superb 1.9 TDI

This new turbo is compatible with reference 454231-5008S, fitted to the Skoda Superb I with the 1.9 TDI producing approximately 101 hp, associated in particular with engine codes AVB, BSV and BPZ. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the exact reference printed on the old turbo or on the vehicle's engine plate, as several turbo variants may exist depending on the production year and trim level of the Superb I.

Fitting advice for the Superb 1.9 TDI

On this diesel unit, the majority of turbo failures stem from insufficient lubrication caused by poor-quality oil or neglected oil changes, as well as a clogged air filter or a damaged intercooler allowing contaminants through. Before fitting, it is essential to check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses, and the cleanliness of the air intake to prevent any contamination of the new turbo. On start-up, priming the turbo's oil feed is recommended to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings from the very first start.
