Why does the Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI 110 turbo fail?

On the AHF and ASV engines fitted to the Skoda Octavia I 1.9 TDI 110, the turbine is particularly sensitive to lubrication quality. Insufficient oil, extended service intervals beyond manufacturer recommendations, or the use of non-compliant oil all lead to premature wear of the bearings and centre housing. A clogged air filter or a damaged intercooler also disrupts pressure balance and accelerates blade fatigue. Revving the engine hard immediately after a cold start, before the oil has had time to reach operating temperature, remains a common cause of turbo failure on this pump-injector diesel engine.

Compatibility of the new turbo with the Skoda Octavia

This new turbo is compatible with reference 713673-5007S and is designed for the 1.9 TDI 110 engines (engine codes AHF, ASV) of the Skoda Octavia I. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the reference marked on the old turbo or on the engine plate to confirm an exact match with your vehicle.

Exchange basis and warranty on this turbo

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. The old unit is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Skoda Octavia is not left off the road. The turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, up to 10 instalments.

Fitting advice for AHF / ASV engines

Before fitting the turbo, check the oil circuit (feed and return hoses), the cleanliness of the air intake, and the condition of the intercooler. Pre-lubricating the centre housing with oil before the first start is essential to prevent dry running on start-up. After fitting, check for any air or oil leaks and monitor boost pressure during the first few kilometres.
