Skoda covers 8 models and 4 gearbox types: which configuration suits my vehicle?

The answer comes down to two things: the model and, above all, the engine code stamped on the identification plate of the unit. Across the Skoda range from 1999 to 2025, the same engine capacity can be paired with a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a DSG 6 or a DSG 7 depending on the year of production and the power output — and these four configurations share no components whatsoever.

Fabia, Octavia, Superb: generations that change everything

The Octavia and Superb account for the greatest number of distinct 2.0 TDI engine codes — BKD, BKP, BMM, CBBB, CBDB, CEGA, CFFB, CFGB, CFHA, CFHC, CFJA, CLCB, CLJA, CRLB, CUNA, DFFA, DFGA, DFHA — each of which may correspond to a different gearbox. The Fabia, available with a 1.2 (BBM, BMD, BME, CGPA, CGPB), a 1.2 TSI (CBZA, CBZB, CJZA, CJZC), a 1.4 TDI (AMF, BMS, BNM, BNV) or a 1.9 TDI (AGR, ALH, ASV, ASZ, ATD, AXR, BKC, BLS, BXE), illustrates another classic pitfall: the 1.9 TDI engine code BKC is shared across several models within the group, yet the associated gearbox varies depending on the vehicle it is fitted to. The Yeti and Karoq come with 1.4 TSI (CAVE, CAXA, CAXC, CTHE, CZCA, CZDA) and 1.5 TSI (DADA, DPCA, DXDB) engines, frequently paired with a DSG 7.

DSG 6 and DSG 7: two families not to be confused

The dual-clutch gearboxes in this collection are offered without the mechatronic unit, with a brand-new dual clutch included. The DSG 6 is fitted primarily to higher-capacity diesel engines (2.0 TDI, 1.8 TSI), whilst the dry-clutch DSG 7 is found on lighter engines: 1.2 TSI, 1.4 TSI, 1.0 TSI. Mixing up the two families when ordering is the most common mistake on this range — only the engine code can settle the matter definitively. The 5- and 6-speed manuals cover the majority of Fabia, Roomster, Rapid and Citigo models, as well as a portion of Octavia models built before 2010. For any reconditioned gearbox sold on an exchange basis, the engine code remains the only reliable identifier to supply.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does a reconditioned Skoda gearbox cost?

The price depends on the engine and the exact reference, and is always well below the price of a new part. For an exact price for your vehicle, enter your number plate or request a free online quote.

Is this Skoda gearbox compatible with my exact model?

We offer 112 references covering the main Skoda models. Compatibility is checked against the engine / gearbox code: give us your number plate and we will confirm the exact gearbox for your vehicle.

What is the difference between new, used and exchange?

A used part is resold as is, with no work done. An exchange unit is an original gearbox rebuilt in our workshop, inspected and guaranteed for up to 24 months: reliability close to new, at a used-part price.

What do the warranty and delivery include?

A warranty of up to 24 months, an invoice with every part, return transport arranged for collecting your old unit, delivery throughout Europe and payment in up to 10 instalments.
