On Suzuki vehicles, the 1.3 does not correspond to a single gearbox

This is the most common pitfall with this range: the 1.3 petrol is fitted to the Swift, the Jimny, the Alto, the Ignis and the Splash alike, yet the gearboxes associated with each are not interchangeable. The engine code is the true selection criterion here. A Jimny 1.3 may be fitted with a G13B or an M13A depending on the generation, and the corresponding gearboxes differ structurally. On the Swift, you will also find the K12B and the K12C for the 1.2 versions, as well as the M16A on certain 1.6 variants. Relying solely on the engine capacity designation will systematically lead to an incorrect order.

DDiS diesel: three code families for two engine capacities

The Suzuki diesel range is based on rebadged Fiat-VM units. The 1.9 DDiS (codes F9Q and F9QB) is found on the Grand Vitara and SX4, whilst the 2.0 DDiS (D20AA) covers the SX4 and the next-generation Vitara. The 1.6 DDiS (D16AA, D19AA, D13A) appeared later, primarily on the Vitara and SX4 from 2015 onwards. These three DDiS families use distinct 5- or 6-speed manual gearboxes that cannot be substituted for one another, even when the body model is identical.

Practical reference points by model

The Swift alone accounts for eight different references in this collection, reflecting the wide variety of engine codes and model years covered (1998–2018). The Jimny follows with seven references, all 5-speed manual, but split between the G13B (carburettor then fuel injection) and M13A (sequential injection) units. For the Samurai and the Carry, only one reference is available in each case: identification must be thorough before placing any order.
