Same 2.0 TDI, same year: 6-speed manual or DSG 7 – the gearbox differs depending on the engine code

The engine code is the only reliable way to identify the correct reconditioned gearbox for a vehicle. On a Golf or an A3 2.0 TDI, the codes AZV, BKD or BKP cover different generations and gearbox pairings from those of the codes CAGA, CAHA or CJAA: same engine capacity and fuel type, but different torque outputs, gear ratios and mechanical interfaces. On a Clio, a Kangoo or a Mégane 1.5 dCi, the K9K family encompasses dozens of variants — K9K 700, K9K 802, K9K 872, among others — not all of which share the same gearbox. Starting from the code stamped on the engine block, rather than the engine capacity or quoted power output, avoids misidentification.

Manual, automated manual, dual-clutch: three families with different sourcing considerations

The range covers three main families. 5- and 6-speed manual gearboxes account for the majority of references, across diesel engines such as the 2.0 TDI (codes CBAB, CBBB, CFCA…), the 1.9 TDI (AFN, AGR, ARL, ASZ…), the 1.6 HDi (9HR, 9HX, DV6C…) and the 2.3 dCi (M9T 670, M9T 700, M9T 716…), as well as petrol engines such as the 2.0 TSI (CCZA, CCZB, DGVA…) and the 1.4 TSI (CAVA, CAXA, CZDA…). DSG 6 and DSG 7 dual-clutch gearboxes are common on the Golf, Polo, Tiguan, Leon and Octavia: they are supplied without the mechatronic unit but with a new dual-clutch assembly. Automated manual gearboxes — BMP6, Quickshift, SensoDrive, Dualogic, Easytronic, ETG6 or DDCT depending on the make — are supplied without the actuator or electrohydraulic control unit; this is a structural feature of the product and must be taken into account when ordering.

Vans, city cars, SUVs: the model determines which gearboxes are available

The range spans from the Fiat 500 1.2 (codes 169A4000, 188A5000) to the Ford Transit 2.2 TDCi (DRFA, DRFC, DRFE…), including heavy-duty vans such as the Ducato, Boxer, Jumper and Master, whose 2.3 Multijet, 3.0 HDi and 2.5 dCi engines require gearboxes built for high torque. On a Transporter 2.5 TDI, the codes AXD, AXE, BNZ or CECA do not give access to the same references as a Transporter 2.0 TDI with codes CAAA or CAAB. For SUVs such as the Qashqai or the Tiguan, four-wheel drive introduces an additional variable that the engine code alone cannot resolve — the drivetrain type (front-wheel drive or 4x4) must be specified. Two sales methods coexist within the range: exchange, where the customer sends back their original unit, and reconditioning of the customer's own unit, where the customer's own gearbox is reconditioned and returned to them; the brand and model pages specify which of the two methods applies to each reference.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is an exchange gearbox?

It is an original gearbox fully rebuilt in our workshop: wear parts replaced, settings redone and bench-tested before dispatch. You get a reliable gearbox for far less than a new one, and you send us back your old unit (the core), which we recondition in turn — a genuine circular economy approach.

What warranty comes with a reconditioned gearbox?

Every part is guaranteed for up to 24 months on the part, subject to conditions. Our gearboxes are bench-tested before dispatch, and every order comes with an invoice (VAT reclaimable for trade customers).

How do I find the right gearbox for my vehicle?

The easiest way: enter your number plate and we identify the exact model in seconds. You can also request an online quote — our advisers check compatibility using your registration document or the original part reference.

What are the delivery and payment terms?

Delivery throughout France and Europe, with return transport arranged for the exchange of the part. You can pay in instalments, up to 10 payments, to spread the cost.
