Which reconditioned engine fits my vehicle, given the dozens of different engine codes available?

That is the key question on this page: the same engine capacity can conceal several incompatible blocks depending on the year of manufacture and the engine code stamped on the block. Correct identification absolutely requires that code — not the stated power output, not the engine capacity alone.

The collection covers reconditioned bare engines sold on an exchange basis, spanning vehicles from 1988 to 2026, including both passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Diesel engines make up the majority of the catalogue — 1.5 dCi, 2.0 TDI, 2.0 HDi, 1.6 HDi, 2.2 TDCi, 1.7 CDTi, 2.3 dCi — but petrol units are also available: 1.2 TSI, 1.4 TSI, 2.0 TSI, 1.2 PureTech, 1.4 Turbo. All are sold as bare engines: ancillaries, turbo, alternator and starter motor are not included.

The engine code trap: why engine capacity alone is not enough

A 2.0 HDi from a Peugeot 308 is not interchangeable with a 2.0 HDi from a Scénic: the codes DW10FUD, DW12RUD or PGFA refer to different architectures, each with its own engine mounts, timing system and cylinder head. The same logic applies within the Volkswagen Group: the CFCA and the CJXC are both 2.0 TDI units, yet they do not fit the same generations of Golf, Passat or Octavia. On Ford Transit light commercials, the codes XXGA, 224DT or 244DT correspond to successive generations of the 2.2 TDCi with distinct blocks. On the Renault Master and Trafic, the M9T_710 (2.3 dCi) itself evolved depending on the model year.

Passenger cars and light commercials: different operating demands

Light commercials — Transit, Boxer, Master, Vivaro, Trafic, Transporter, Movano, NV400 — accumulate high mileages under load, which accelerates wear on the cylinder liners, bearings and timing components. An exchange reconditioned engine for these applications must be identified using the full engine code, as several power variants can coexist on the same model (for example the Boxer 2.2 HDi in 100, 120 or 130 hp versions, each with a different code). For passenger cars such as the Golf, Leon, Mégane or 308, the key considerations are the start-of-production year and any mid-production block revisions — the N47C20A (BMW, Mini Cooper) is a prime example, with several sub-variants depending on the Euro emissions standard. Locate the engine code on the identification plate on the block before navigating to the relevant model page.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is an exchange engine?

It is an original engine fully rebuilt in our workshop: wear parts replaced, settings redone and bench-tested before dispatch. You get a reliable engine for far less than a new one, and you send us back your old unit (the core), which we recondition in turn — a genuine circular economy approach.

What warranty comes with a reconditioned engine?

Every part is guaranteed for up to 24 months on the part, subject to conditions. Our engines are bench-tested before dispatch, and every order comes with an invoice (VAT reclaimable for trade customers).

How do I find the right engine for my vehicle?

The easiest way: enter your number plate and we identify the exact model in seconds. You can also request an online quote — our advisers check compatibility using your registration document or the original part reference.

What are the delivery and payment terms?

Delivery throughout France and Europe, with return transport arranged for the exchange of the part. You can pay in instalments, up to 10 payments, to spread the cost.
