Why does the turbo on the Renault Master 2.3 dCi fail?

On the Renault Master III fitted with the M9T engine, the forced induction system uses two turbochargers mounted in series, one of which is a variable-geometry unit controlled electronically. This twin-turbo setup is particularly sensitive to lubrication quality: degraded oil, an overdue service interval or a low oil level will cause premature wear of the bearings and the electric actuator. A clogged air filter, a cracked intake hose or a damaged intercooler will also upset the balance between the two turbines and accelerate failure. Revving the engine hard without allowing it to cool down before switching off is equally damaging to this type of electronically controlled turbo.

Compatibility with the Renault Master 2.3 dCi

This new turbo is compatible with reference 858864-5009S, intended for the Renault Master fitted with the 2.3 dCi engines (engine codes M9T 716 and M9T 726), with a 2298 cm3 diesel displacement. Before placing an order, it is essential to check the reference printed on the old turbo or on your vehicle's engine plate, as several power variants may have been fitted to the Master depending on the production period.

Exchange basis and warranty on this Master turbo

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of your old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Master is not left off the road. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional.

Advice before fitting on a Renault Master 2.3 dCi

Before fitting this turbo, check the condition of the oil circuit (hoses, return line), the integrity of the intake hoses and air intake, and the cleanliness of the intercooler. When starting the engine for the first time, it is recommended to prime the turbo with oil to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings from the moment the engine starts.

Pay for your Master turbo in instalments

Your order can be paid in instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
