Signs of a failing turbo on your Renault Master 2.3 dCi
On a Renault Master III used daily for goods transport or as a fitted-out van, the turbocharger takes a great deal of punishment. Loss of power under acceleration, abnormal exhaust smoke (black, blue or grey), an unusual whistling sound under load, rising oil consumption or an illuminated engine warning light are all signs that the turbo on your van needs attention. On the 2.3 dCi engines fitted to the Master III, these symptoms often point to worn bearings or excessive play in the turbine shaft, and the turbo should be replaced before the problem gets worse.
New turbo for the Renault Master III – overview
This new turbo is compatible with reference 883177-5001S, intended for Renault Master III vehicles fitted with the 2.3 dCi 135, 2.3 dCi 150 and 2.3 dCi 180 engines, associated with engine codes M9T706 and M9T716. Before placing an order, we strongly recommend checking the reference printed directly on your old turbo or on the engine plate of your Master to confirm exact compatibility with your vehicle.
Exchange basis and warranty for your Master
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of your old turbo is required. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted to your Master, so that your van is not off the road any longer than necessary. The part comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Fitting advice for the M9T engine
On M9T blocks, premature turbo failure is frequently caused by a lubrication fault: incorrect oil grade, missed oil changes, or a clogged oil filter. Also check the condition of the air filter and intercooler, as any air restriction or leak in the intake circuit will affect turbo performance. Before fitting, inspect the oil circuit (hoses, unions, pressure) and the air intake to rule out any contamination. When starting the engine for the first time, it is essential to prime the turbo with oil to prevent it running dry on first start-up.
