Advice before and after fitting on a 3.0 V6 TDI engine
Premature turbo failure on these engines is most commonly caused by a lack of lubrication, incorrect or overdue oil, or a clogged air filter allowing contaminants to reach the compressor wheel. A damaged intercooler or overly aggressive high-rev driving can also accelerate wear. Before fitting, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses and the air intake to prevent any contamination of the new turbo. When starting up for the first time, prime the oil circuit before starting the engine to ensure the bearings are lubricated immediately.
