What changes behind the wheel of your BMW X1 18d with a new turbo
On a BMW X1 (F48) fitted with the 18d engine, a turbo in good condition makes itself felt immediately in throttle response: pick-up regains its sharpness from low revs, the engine no longer struggles when power is reapplied after a standstill, and abnormal exhaust smoke disappears. A worn or failing turbo, by contrast, results in a noticeable loss of power, an unusual whistling noise under the bonnet, or rising oil consumption. Fitting a new turbo restores the vehicle's original behaviour, whether in town or on the motorway.
Compatibility of the new turbo for BMW X1 18d
This new turbo is compatible with the main reference 54409880024 and covers BMW X1 (F48) models powered by the 18d engine, whether in 136 hp or 150 hp form, fitted with the B47 C20 A or B47 C20 B diesel engines with an engine capacity of 1995 cm³. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference marked on the old turbo or on the vehicle's identification plate, as certain engine variants may share closely related but non-identical components.
Exchange basis and warranty for this BMW X1 turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, the old turbo must be returned once the new one has been delivered and fitted, so that your BMW X1 is not left off the road during the process. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments, to make your purchase easier.
Advice before and after fitting the turbo on your X1 18d
Turbo failure on this type of diesel engine is most commonly caused by a lubrication fault: insufficient oil quality, missed oil changes, or a clogged air filter disrupting the intake. Before fitting the new turbo, carefully check the oil circuit (hoses, return pipe), the condition of the intercooler, and the airtightness of the intake, as a foreign body or a leak can quickly damage a new part. On start-up, it is advisable to prime the turbo with oil before the first engine start, in order to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings and to preserve the service life of the part.
