What changes behind the wheel of your Classe B 220 CDI

From the very first miles, a turbo in good condition makes an immediate difference on a Mercedes Classe B 220 CDI: low-rev response becomes crisp again, the car no longer feels sluggish under acceleration, and the engine note stays smooth, with no unusual whistling or exhaust smoke. When the turbocharger starts to fail, this Classe B – designed for versatile family use – loses its responsiveness, fuel consumption rises, and an engine warning light may appear on the dashboard. Fitting a new turbo restores the full capability of the OM 651.930 engine and returns the car to its original driving behaviour.

Compatibility with the Classe B 220 CDI engine

This new turbo is compatible with reference 9V102, intended for the 220 CDI engine fitted with engine code OM 651.930, in its 2143 cm³ Diesel version, as mounted on the Mercedes Classe B. Before placing an order, it is recommended that you check the reference shown on the identification plate of the old turbo to confirm an exact match with your vehicle, as commercial designations can vary from one version to another.

Exchange basis and warranty for this new turbo

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Classe B is not left off the road. A 12-month parts warranty applies, subject to fitting being carried out by a professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.

Causes of failure and fitting advice for the Classe B 220 CDI

On the OM 651.930 engine, the main causes of turbo failure are inadequate lubrication, poor-quality engine oil or missed oil changes, a clogged air filter or a damaged intercooler, as well as a driving style involving harsh acceleration immediately after a cold start.

  • Check the oil circuit (pressure, cleanliness, strainer) before fitting
  • Inspect the condition of the oil feed pipes and air intake
  • Prime the turbo with oil before first start-up
  • Inspect the EGR valve and the boost circuit
