What changes behind the wheel of your Astra with a healthy turbo
On an Opel Astra fitted with the 1.6 Turbo petrol engine, a properly functioning turbo makes itself felt immediately: crisp throttle response from low revs, smooth and linear power delivery, and no smoke or whistling under acceleration. Conversely, a worn turbo will show itself through sluggish pick-up, an unstable idle, excessive oil consumption, or an engine warning light. Fitting a new turbo to this engine restores the original flexibility and power, with no compromise on reliability.
Compatibility with Astra engines
This new turbo is compatible with reference 53039880110 and fits the 1.6 Turbo petrol engine of the Opel Astra, known under engine codes A16LET and Z16LET. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the reference stamped on the identification plate of your old turbo, or using the engine code shown on your vehicle registration document or on the engine block itself, to ensure a perfect match with your vehicle.
Exchange and warranty for your Astra
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: your old turbo must be returned in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Astra is never left off the road unnecessarily. The part comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment for your order can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before and after fitting
On the Astra's 1.6 Turbo, premature turbo failure is most commonly caused by inadequate lubrication — whether from the wrong grade of oil, oil that has not been changed at the recommended intervals, or a clogged oil filter. A blocked air filter or a damaged intercooler can also disrupt air intake and accelerate wear. Before fitting, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses, and the cleanliness of the air intake to avoid any contamination of the new turbo. On start-up, make sure the oil circuit is primed before starting the engine, then drive gently for the first few kilometres to allow the turbo to bed in.
