Restore the full performance of your BMW Série 2
On a BMW Série 2 220i or 230i, the turbo has a direct impact on mid-range response, the smoothness of power delivery, and the flexibility of the petrol engine at low revs. When the unit starts to wear, you'll notice a gradual loss of power, an unusual whistling noise, exhaust smoke, or abnormal oil consumption. Fitting a new turbo restores sharp acceleration, consistent boost pressure build-up, and engine behaviour that matches the original driving experience, whether in town or on the open road.
Compatibility with the B48B20 and B46B20 engines in the Série 2
A high-quality BMW 125i (F20 / F21) 224 hp turbocharger plays a key role by increasing air pressure in the engine, thereby accelerating combustion and performance — a principle that applies equally to the Série 2 fitted with the same block. This new turbo is compatible with the 220i and 230i petrol engines, featuring engine codes B48B20 and B46B20 (1998 cm3). Before placing an order, always check the reference printed on the label of your old turbo to confirm an exact match with your vehicle.
Exchange basis and warranty on this new turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of your old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new unit has been delivered and fitted, so your BMW Série 2 is never left off the road. The part comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over up to 10 instalments.
Advice before fitting on your Série 2
On these turbocharged petrol engines, premature turbo failure is most commonly caused by a lubrication issue — whether due to incorrect oil, oil that hasn't been changed at the recommended intervals, a clogged air filter, or a damaged intercooler. Before fitting the new turbo, check the condition of the oil circuit, the cleanliness of the hoses and air intake, and prime the turbo with oil on start-up to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings.
