Not sure you've found the right part?
A new turbo designed for real-world use in the BMW Série 5 530d
The BMW Série 5 (E39) 530d is frequently used for long motorway journeys, sometimes towing or carrying a sustained load in Touring versions. This type of use, combined with the spirited driving that the M57D30 engine's torque encourages, places considerable strain on the turbocharger — particularly its variable geometry and actuator. A new turbo compatible with reference 454191-5017S restores the original boost pressure and ensures reliable operation of the 530d engine.
Compatibility with Série 5 530d engines
This new turbo is compatible with BMW Série 5 (E39) models fitted with the M57D30 diesel engine (code 306D1), with an engine capacity of 2926 cm³, in both its 184 hp and 193 hp versions. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the exact reference printed on the label of your old turbo, as several variable-geometry variants may have been fitted to this model depending on the year of production and power output.
Exchange basis and warranty for your 530d
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of your old turbocharger is required; however, it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your BMW Série 5 is never left off the road. The part is covered by a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Fitting advice to protect your new turbo
On the M57D30, the leading cause of premature failure is inadequate lubrication: poor-quality engine oil, missed oil changes, or a blocked oil filter can quickly damage the turbo's bearings. Before fitting, check the oil circuit (feed and return hoses), the condition of the air intake and air filter, and the intercooler, which is often clogged on high-mileage vehicles. When starting the engine for the first time, it is essential to prime the circuit by injecting fresh oil into the turbo's oil inlet before the first start, to prevent any dry running.
