Signs of a Worn Turbo on a Mercedes Classe B
On a Mercedes Classe B fitted with the 1.6 petrol engine, a turbo nearing the end of its life typically shows itself through a loss of power under acceleration, an unusual whistling noise from under the bonnet, abnormal exhaust smoke (blue or black depending on the case), or an engine warning light on the dashboard. Excessive engine oil consumption and hesitation when the engine is building revs are also warning signs not to be ignored, as they often precede complete turbo failure.
About This Turbo for the Mercedes Classe B
This new turbo is compatible with reference AL0067 and fits Mercedes Classe B models equipped with the 1.6 litre petrol engine (1595 cm³), engine code M 270.910. The versions covered include the B 160, B 180 and B 200. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference number on your old turbo to ensure perfect compatibility with your vehicle.
Exchange Basis and Warranty
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but this only takes place after the new part has been delivered and fitted, so your Classe B is not left off the road unnecessarily. The turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice Before and During Fitting
On an M 270.910 engine, turbo longevity depends greatly on the quality and frequency of engine oil changes, as well as the condition of the air filter and intercooler. Before fitting the new turbo, carefully inspect the oil circuit (feed and return lines), the condition of the hoses, and the cleanliness of the air intake to avoid any contamination. When starting the engine for the first time, make sure to prime the turbo with oil before the initial start-up to ensure the bearings are lubricated immediately. Driving gently during the first few kilometres, without putting the engine under excessive load, also helps the new component build up pressure correctly.
