Why does the turbo on the Mercedes Classe G 270 CDI fail?
On the Classe G 270 CDI, the turbocharger operates under severe conditions: off-road use, heavy loads, towing and sustained engine speeds place considerable strain on the turbo shaft and bearings. Degraded engine oil, missed oil changes or a clogged oil filter reduce lubrication and accelerate bearing wear. A blocked air filter or a leaking intercooler also upset the air/pressure balance and weaken the turbo over time. Switching the engine off abruptly immediately after hard use, without allowing a cooling-down period, encourages oil coking inside the turbine.
Compatibility of the turbo with the Mercedes Classe G 270 CDI
This new turbo is compatible with reference 709837-5003S, intended for 270 CDI engines fitted with engine codes OM 612.961 and OM 612.963, in Diesel form with an engine capacity of 2685 cm³. Before placing an order, it is recommended that you check the reference printed on the old turbo as well as the engine code shown on the vehicle's identification plate, to ensure perfect compatibility with your Mercedes Classe G.
Exchange basis and warranty for this Classe G turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so that your Mercedes Classe G is not left off the road. The part carries a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional.
Advice before fitting on your Classe G 270 CDI
Before installing the turbo, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses and the cleanliness of the air intake to avoid any contamination of the new component. Oil priming is essential at start-up in order to lubricate the bearings immediately and prevent dry running on first start. Payment for your order can be spread over up to 10 instalments.
